Okay, okay, here are the photos from Yearbook Yourself. Yes, I know, they’re hilarious:

art booth?

Today’s incoherent rambling might actually be onto something…

I saw this lovely article,Avatars: FaceYourManga vs. Yearbook Yourself over at Valleywag, and I got to thinking.

Yearbook Yourself is hilarious, and something I immediately played around with. The aesthetic is great, but sometimes the faces don’t line up too well. I thought about making a booth that would do something similar, but the key seems to be letting people fiddle around with the images themselves until they finally think they look right. I think the fun about being in a booth is that something automatically happens, so fiddling about should be minimal.

What if I made a fine-art-yourself booth? What if the photos it took automatically filtered the photo to look painterly and it threw you into a neat little frame…and maybe projected you onto a nearby gallery wall to be consumed by art enthusiasts as the latest and greatest piece of Art? No? It’s really cheesy, and a mixture of things done by many people before me, but I like the idea of it. It’s the sort of that I would do, so I think it’s a nice starting point.
I have to consider what a fine-art-booth would look like, and what fine art really means in the first place–as in, would you have the choice of being Warholed like Apple’s Photo Booth software or Mondrianed, or da Vincied? Is that too much like going to an amusement park and getting those cheesy posed photos of you and your family in the Old West (you know what I’m talking about)?
