“The Dog & Pony Show”
The show was quite a success, I’d say. I received lovely feedback, and it was a true delight to see my prints up and framed.

General comments:
- The teeth look like chiclets
- Do the M’s in the eye photograph have any significance?
- I can’t tell you how many women (specifically!) asked me if I’d thought about having fabrics printed…
- No really, have you thought about making a dress out of these? (Yes)
- A lot of people chose a favorite (Always Hair, then you are either an Eye person or a Teeth person, apparently). I find this particularly interesting because folks were imaging them as commodities to put in their homes. The hair was the most home-friendly piece, and the least creepy.
- I should sell my pieces individually to a dentist, an optician, and a hair salon.
- A few folks asked what software I used to generate the pieces. Photoshop, people. Photoshop is the only tool you’ll ever need to manipulate yourself into oblivion.

I was very pleased to see lots of people look at the work from a slight distance, then get very close to an individual piece for a closer examination. Perfect!

“I am at the same time:” Final Images
These are the final prints I’ll be installing at the Design+Technology2009 symposium (May 2nd and 3rd, 65 Fifth Ave, 2nd floor!). The teeth are already done, and the last two are being printed on Monday. I’ve got frames being made for them. The whole shebang will be ready on Thursday, just in the nick of time (I hope).
Final Presentation
May I please direct your attention to my Final Presentation:

I got some nice feedback about the prints themselves, my process, the projects that the preceded my final, and the overall thing. Apparently I’m far too apologetic during my presentations though. Sorry!!!!
Ohmagah!
I’m turning into a giddy child!! I’m so excited! Let it be known that thesis is NOT giving me eye twitch anymore and instead is making me dance in the dead of night! It’s true!
Okay, so thesis or not, I’m really excited about Spoonflower, a company that allows folks like me to upload a pattern and have it printed on fabric on demand. It’s $18 per yard, the results seem pretty snazzy according to their flickr pool, and you can get a sample of the fabric for $5. Rad. Before you know it, I will have curtains printed with my hair. Creepy and amazing.
Oh, and I made some more patterns:

I’m so overwhelmingly happy making these patterns. I don’t know why. I must make more…
William Morris would be proud…maybe
Tomorrow I’m hoping to have this printed 6 x 4 feet at school. I think it’s going to be a touch expensive, and they’ll probably sass me about the 300MB file. We’ll see…

The whole thing

grr faces
I traced a bunch of photographs of me making a grr face, and I’ve been layering the drawings onto some scans. I really don’t like how the scans look, but the grr faces are kind of cool. Well, at least I like them.
